SOLUTION: I am performing mass balance equations and came across an equation I can not figure out because of the units.
(30 grams/sec)(QR)+(10 grams/cubic meter)(QR) = 40 grams/sec

Question 221221: I am performing mass balance equations and came across an equation I can not figure out because of the units.
(30 grams/sec)(QR)+(10 grams/cubic meter)(QR) = 40 grams/sec
QR is some value for a hypothetical water reservoir flow rate. Would I be able to subtract 30 and then solve by dividing 10? I don't think I can because the units are not the same.
Please help. Thanks.
Answer by RAY100(1637) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You are right,,,10 g/sec is a velocity
.
and 30 g/ cu mtr is a density
.
if we did,,,,( 10 g/sec)/ (30 g /cu mtr) = (1/3) cu mtr / sec,,,,this is a volume exchange rate.
