Question 210936: The question is: If a man can paint a house in 4 hours and a lady can paint a house in 6 hours, how long will it take if they both paint the house together?
I'm trying to go back to school and haven't used Algebra is many years. I was thinking that X would be the time it took for both of them to paint the house. I've tried several different ways, but just can't remember. This is the last equation that I tried. This question comes from some review questions on the internet to study for the college placement test.
1/2 (4+6)=X over 2
