Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Write
(1 / (x - 3)) - (4 / (x - 2))
as a single fraction with no common factors.
--------------------------------------------
lcd = (x-3)(x-2)
------------------------------
Write each fraction with the lcd as its denominator:
---
(x-2)/lcd - [4(x-3)]/lcd
---
Combine the numerators over the lcd:
[x-2 -4(x-3)]/lcd
Simplify:
[-3x +10]/[x-3)(x-2)]
==============================
Cheers,
Stan H.
