Name the property illustrated.
8 ∙ 7 = 7 ∙ 8

It's called the "COMMUTATIVE" property because

in order to make

8 ∙ 7

into

7 ∙ 8

the 8 on the left COMMUTES over to the right where the
7 was previously, while the 7 COMMUTES over to the left
where the 8 was previously. So they call the fact that
you can swap them and still get the same answer, 56, the
COMMUTATIVE property.

-----

Incidentally, COMMUTATIVE is also a property of addition,

because

7 + 8

and

8 + 7

are both 15.

-----

However, COMMUTATIVE is NOT a property of division, because

6 ÷ 3

is 2, but

3 ÷ 6

is not 2, but .
