Question 200221: 2(1.5m+3)=3.5m-1

Answer by rfer(16322)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2(1.5m+3)=3.5m-1
3m+6=3.5m-1
.5m=5
m=10
Ok
multiply the 2 times 1.5m+3 to get rid of the ()
then move all the m's to one side and the numbers to the other
so it would look like
3m+6-6-3.5m=3.5m-1-6-3.5m
combine
-.5m=-7 (I see I made a mistake above)
multiply through by -
.5m=7
m=14
Sorry about the mistake.
Hope this helps.
