Let the numbers be x and x+1
1/x - 1/(x+2) = 1/12
12(x+2)-12x=x(x+2) multiply each side by the LCM, 12x(x+1).
12x+24-12x=x^2+2x
x^2+2x-24=0 Subtract the left side from the right.
(x+6)(x-4)=0
x=4
x+2=6
