Given: 6x + 12 = 3x + 8, solve for x.
Put the x terms together and the constants together on different sides of the equation.
Don't forget the change the signs when crossing the equal symbol. In other words, 3x becomes -3x and 12 becomes -12.
6x - 3x = 8 - 12
3x = -4
x = -4/3
