I need some help checking this problem.
Find the through of
a. the vertical line through (-1,7)
b. the line containing (-2,6) and (4,0)
:
a) remember vertical lines take the form of x=a and x is a for all values of y
so we know the x value of the point (-1,7) is -1 and remember it is -1 for ALL values of y
:
our equation is
:
b)(-2,6) and (4,0)
:
first thing we have to do is find the slope:
:
(0-6)/(4-(-2))=6/6=1
:
so our slope is m=1. now we have to use the point slope formula to find our equation: y-k=m(x-h).....where m is the slope and (h,) is ANY point on the line
:
so lets choose ONE of our points I will use (4,0)
:
y-0=1(x-4)
