distribute the -4 to terms inside the parenthesis on the left:
v-16+4v = -2(2v-1)
distribute the -2 to terms inside the parenthesis on the right:
v-16+4v = -4v + 2
-16+5v = -4v + 2
5v = -4v + 18
9v = 18
v = 2
