Answer by midwood_trail(310)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3x – 6y = 18; solve for y.
This means to isolate y on one side of the equation.
Begin by subtracting 3x from both sides.
This leaves us with -6y = -3x + 18
To solve for y, divide both sides by -6.
y = -3x/-6 + 18/-6
y = (1/3)(x) - 3
We can also write the answer as y = (x/3) - 3
Either way is right.

3x – 6y = 18; solve for y
-6Y=-3X+18
Y=-3X/-6+18/-6
Y=X/2-3 ans.
