Multiply thru the 1st by 2.5 and the 2nd by 3 to get:

7.5x - 6.25y = 2.5*7.125
7.5x - 9 y = 3*7.3125

Subtract 2nd from 1st to solve for "y":
2.75y = -4.125
y = -1.5

Substitute into 2.5x - 3(-1.5) = 7.3125
2.5x + 4.5 = 7.3125
