I know I need to find the like terms, which are -5w & 6w.
-5w + 6w = 1w + 2 = 5
I know I need to balance each side out equally...but not sure how to do that.
I'm stuck!
Also, not sure how to check my work.
This problem is in my text book: Prealgebra Third Edition by Lial Hestwood
page 115 #39.

-5w+2+6w=-4+9
Simplify the left side and the right side of the equation:
w + 2 = 5
Subtract 2 from both sides to get:
w = 3
============
Checking; substitute 3 in place of "x" in the original equation:
-5*3 + 2 + 6*3 = -4+9
-15 + 2 + 18 = 5
5 = 5
