Solve the following simultaneous equations using the elimination method.



To eliminate y, multiply the first equation by 5 and
the second equation by 11

Add vertically term by term:

Divide both sides by 79


To eliminate x, multiply the first equation by -4 and
the second equation by 7

Add vertically term by term:

Divide both sides by 79
