Question 139416: Please help me solve this equation:
sqroot3x+10=5-2x
Answer by checkley77(12844) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
sqrt3x+10=5-2x
sqrt3x=5-10-2x
sqrt3x=-5-2x
square both sides.
3x=(-5-2x)^2
3x=25+20x+4x^2
4x^2+20x-3x+25=0
4x^2+17x+25=0
using the quadratic equation: we get:
x=(-17+-sqrt[17^2-4*4*25])/2*4
x=(-17+-sqrt[289-400])/8
x=(-17+-sqrt-111)/8
x=(-17+-10.54i)/8
x=(-17+10.54i)/8
x=-17/8+-10.54i/8
x=-2.125+-1.3175i answer.
