You factor everything out. As there is a negative (or as some would say - a subtraction sign) in front of (2r+8) you have to multiply everything insided the brackets by -1, which gives us:

7r-2r-8=32

Then you add the like terms:

5r-8=32

You add 8 to each side:

5r=40

And you divide each side by 5:

r=8

Answer by JimMarshall(82)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
7r - ( 2r + 8 ) = 32
==> 7r - 2r - 8 = 32
==> 5r = 32 + 8
==> 5r = 40
== r = 8
