You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let x= amount of his savings

There may be two ways to interpret this: Were his saving increased BY 4 times his savings? I think that must mean that he ADDS 4x to his present savings of x.

The equation is
x + 4x = 25000
5x = 25000
x= $5000

Check: If his savings of $5000 are INCREASED BY 4 times this amount (which by the way is $20,000), then the result is $25,000. I'm almost sure this is the way the problem is intended to be interpreted.
