Question 13005: 2d + 24 + 3d =84
Answer by tayjay(2)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2d + 24 + 3d =84 (Solving for d, meaning get "d" completely alone)
First, combine like terms. d's and whole numbers.
2d+3d=5d
Second, Subtract 24 since it is on the wrong side and a positive number and take it to the 84. The 24 becomes negative because it was subtracted. Now you must subtract 24 from 84 which leaves you 60.
5d=60
Third, divide both sides by 5.
5d/5=60/5
d=12
Hope that helped.
