Question 127995: Tell wether the ordered pair is a solution of the linear system.

2x - y = 3
4x + 2y = 2
Any help with this equation would be Greatly appreciated.
Answer by JessicaGill(40) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
There are two ways you can solve this. By graphing to see if the ordered pair (1, -1) falls on both lines, or by simply substituting the x and y coordinates into both equations and seeing if they prove true.
Substitution is shown below
To substitute take your first equation and substitute 1 for x and -1 for y
would be which simplifies to so the ordered pair is a solution for the first equation.
Lets check the second, substituting the values in for the x and y coordinates
Simplfy this down to so the ordered pair (1,-1) is a solution for both equations.
If you would like me to show you the graphing steps, please let me know.
