Question 126109: Dear Tutor.
I have two questions. Can you , please help me ?
How to explain how equations come up with infinitely many solutions and no solution. Does having no solution mean that 0 is a solution?
Thank you.

How to explain how equations come up with infinitely many solutions and no solution. Does having no solution mean that 0 is a solution?
-----------
If you have two linear equations, and one is a multiple of the other,
the system is said to be dependent; the graph is a single line; every
point on the line is a solution for the system. That means there
are an infinite number of solutions if the system is dependent.
------------------------
If two linear equations have the same slope, the lines are parallel.
There is NO solution for the system.
NO solutions does not mean "0" is a solution. Zero is a number
just like any other number is a number. No solutions means there
are no solutions.
Cheers,
Stan H.
