Question 125452: Got a question regarding an equation for a survival rate/average duration for an unemployment insurance claimant.
Basically I've got
D - The average duration of weeks of a UI claimant.
S - The week to week survival rate of claimants.
p - The Average potential duration that an individual may claim.
To solve for duration I have this equation:
D = (1-S^p)/(1-S)
or as far as I've been able to go:
D - (-S^p + 1)/(-S + 1) = 0
Anyone have any input on this? It would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Kevin
