Remove parentheses by distributive property:

Now, stop and think, 5/2 is 2 1/2, so when you take 5/2 n and take away 2n, you are left with 1/2 n. Also, when you take -20 and add 1/2, you have -19 1/2. So the answer should be -19 1/2 + 1/2 n.

Answer by elima(1433)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
-5(4-1/2n)+1/16(-32n+8)
First thing to do is distribute the -5 and the 1/16;
-20+5/2n-32/16n+8/16; now you combine like terms;
-20+8/16+5/2n-32/16n
You need LCD so you can add the fractions:
-320/16+8/16+40/16n-32/16n
Now we can add:
-312/16+8/16n= 191/2+1/2n
You need to watch those signs! So many people get answers wrong only because they did not watch those signs.It looks like from your answers you must have done that also.
I hope this helps!=)
