.

Multiply both sides by 3. You will get

    2x = 72 + 18x.

Move 18x from right side to the left side changing the sign

    2x - 18x = 72.

Combine like terms in the left side

      -16x   = 72.

Divide both sides by -16

         x   = 72/(-16) = - 72/16 = -9/2.

ANSWER.  x = -9/2.

Solved.
