Question 120308: If you replace the equal sign of an equation and put an inequality sign in its place, is there ever a time when the same value will be a solution to both the equation and inequality? If so, can you give an example?
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The only time this happens is when you replace an equal sign with either a greater than or equal sign
or with a less than or equal sign
For instance, if you have the simple equation and you replace the equal sign with a greater than or equal sign
, you get . So we can see that 3 is a solution to both and .
