ANSWER.   6 meters by 2 meters.



EXPLANATION.


The equation is


    x*(x+4) = 12

    x^2 + 4x - 12 = 0

    (x+6)*(x-2) = 0


The roots of the equation are  x= -6  and  x= 2.


Of the two roots, we chose the positive one   x= 2 meters,

which gives the answer above.
