Answer by mananth(16946)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A = 2X^2 - NX - X
Combining like terms, we get:
A = 2X^2 - (N+1)X
Now, we can isolate X by moving the constant term to the right side of the equation:
A + (N+1)X = 2X^2
And then dividing both sides by 2
(X^2) / 1 = (A + (N+1)X) / 2
Taking the square root of both sides, we get:
X = +/- sqrt[(A + (N+1)X) / 2]

What @mananth presents as a solution, is not a solution, at all.

His solution is wrong and is incorrect - - - both at the same time.

To get a solution, write the given equation as a standard quadratic equation for x
and then apply the quadratic formula.

            It is as simple as an orange, or a cucumber.
