x + (8/x) - 6 = 0
x/1 + 8/x - 6/1 = 0
Take to a common denominator - x
x^2 + 8 - 6x = 0
Rearrange
x^2 - 6x + 8 = 0
Factorise
(x - 2)(x - 4) = 0
x = 2 or 4
Check:
x + 8/x - 6
Using x = 2
2 + 8/2 - 6 = 0
2 + 4 - 6 = 0
x + 8/x - 6 = 0
Using x = 4
4 + 8/4 - 6 = o
4 + 2 - 6 = 0
