Since you are solving for x you want to get x all by itself on one side of the equation. Therefore we need to get rid of 15 and -5. When solving equations always start with addition and subtraction and then multipication and division. So first we will bring 15 over to the other side by subtracting 15 from each side(step 1). Then we want to bring -5 over by dividing both sides by -5
answer: 15-5x=20
-15 -15
-5x=5
divide each side by -5
x = -1
