Question 11117: 4x + x + x + 4x = 40
Answer by askmemath(368)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Since all the terms on the Left hand side contain X,we can take X common
X(4+1+1+4)=40
Adding
X(10) = 40
Dividing by 10 on both sides
X = 4
Check:
In place of X we write 4 in the original equation
4(4)+4+4+4(4)
=16+4+4+16
=40 which is what we have on the Right Side. Yay!!!
