The answer is: ZERO.

Solution

The rate of change is the derivative f'(x) = (2 + cos(x))' = -sin(x).

The average rate of change is the integral of f'(x)*dx over the interval from 0 to , divided by the length of this interval.

The integral itself is equal to zero, hence the answer.
