5E+30=4E+28
5E-4E=1E
30-28=2
1E/1= 2/1
Answer: E=2

Your first step is correct.
You distributed the numbers to the values in the parenthesis,
but this is the third step,
5E-4E+30=28 Subtract 4E, but leave the numbers in there
E=-2 Subtract 30 to the other side, and that equals E.
