Set up a ratio using the same units of measure
for both the oil and the gasoline
Use the conversion:
16 ounces = 1 gallon
---------------------------
The ratio looks like:
[ ounces of oil ] / [ ounces of gasoline ] =
[ ounces of oil ] / [ ounces of gasolinw ]
Let = ounces of oil needed
---------------------------------------


Multiply both sides by



5.83 ounces of oil are needed
for 3.24 gallons of gasoline
