Question 1075855: A van averages 8 miles per hour faster than a trolley
If the van travels 95 miles in the same time it takes the trolley to travel 75 miles then what is the speed of each?

Answer by ikleyn(52781)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.
Let V be the speed of the van, in miles per hour.

Then the speed of the trolley is (V-8) mph.

The condition says

 = .

Both sides are the travel times.
Indeed, the Left side is the travel time for the van, while the right side is the travel time for the trolley.

From the equation,

95*(V-8) = 75*V.

At this point I leave you to solve the equation and to complete the assignment on your own.
