Question 1072214: Solve for x. x+4/x+6= 6/5

Answer by addingup(3677)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(x + 4)/(x + 6) = 6/5
Cross multiply:
5(x + 4) = 6(x + 6)
5x + 20 = 6x + 36
Subtract 6x + 20 from both sides:
-x = 16
Multiply both sides by -1:
x = -16
----------------------------
Check:
-16+4)/(-16+6) = 6/5
-12/-10 = 6/5 divide 12 and 10 by 2 and you get 6/5. Correct.
