Okay, so first you can either choose to simplify the x or the whole numbers. I will choose the x.
You can add -3x to both sides, which would get you
-8-3x+3x = -2x+3x-6
The -3x and +3x on the left side will cancel out, leaving you with
-8 = x-6
You can now add 6 to both sides, giving you
-2 = x
