trying to make some sense of this, here is what I see here
:

we can ignore the middle portions and just write

square both sides

cross multiply
144x = 625(x+16)
144x = 625x + 10000
-10000 = 625x - 144x
-10000 = 481x
x = -10000/481
x = -20.79
