Question 1061403: I have a worded question in my homework and I'm not quite sure what the equation is. The question is:
State the following equation and solve it. If you treble a number, subtract 6 and then multiply the result by 2, the answer is 18
I've attempted to write the equation out
(3x-6) squared = 18
But I'm not entirely sure if it was correct and am just looking for clarification
Thanks!

If you treble a number, subtract 6 and then multiply the result by 2, the answer is 18
I've attempted to write the equation out
(3x-6) squared = 18
===============
Multiplying by 2 is not squaring.
(3x-6)*(3x-6) = (3x-6)^2 is squaring.
======================================
(3x-6)*2 = 18
(3x-6) = 9
3x = 15
x = 5
