Question 1030706: Hello, there's a question that im not quite understanding. it goes like this
It states "Amazon offers an interesting deal: if you pay $79 per year to join their "Amazon Mom" club, you get 20% off all diaper purchases.
What would the $46.99 box of diapers cost with that discount? Write an equation that provides the totocal cost C of buying x boxes of diapers (234 diapers for $46.99/ 160 diapers $34.99)in one year with the Amazon Mom membership.
I have tried finding the discount and here is my work.
(0.20)(46.99)=9.39
46.99-9.39=37.76
I tried guessing the equation but I am bit confused and I doubt that it's correct
46.99=234x+1
Help is greatly appreciated! thank you so much!
Answer by addingup(3677) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
What would the $46.99 box of diapers cost with that discount?
1) Each box is 46.99, times x boxes = 46.99x
2) Each box has 20% discount and you're getting x boxes: x(46.99*0.20)
3) Lastly, the discount is not for free. You pay a $79 annual fee: 79/x
Put it all together:
[46.99x-x(46.99*0.20)]+79/x = your net cost per box

P.S.: I don't know why you have this: (234 diapers for $46.99/ 160 diapers $34.99)
If it means anything, send me a note and let me know.
