Answer by doukungfoo(195) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
solving for x
2(5x-4)=5(2x+3)
first distribute 2 across (5x-4)
This means multiply 2 times 5x and 2 times -4
10x - 8 = 5(2x+3)
now distribute 5 across (2x+3)
10x - 8 = 10x + 15
now move all terms with x to one side of the equation and all terms
without x to the opposite side of the equation
10x - 10x = 15 + 8
the 10x cancels out
0 = 23
and we get a false statement
so there is no solution for x
check to see if you copied the problem correctly
if you did then there is no solution
because you end up with an inequality
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Start with the given equation
Distribute
Add 8 to both sides
Subtract 10x from both sides
Combine like terms on the left side
Combine like terms on the right side
Simplify
Since this equation is never true for any x value, this means there are no solutions.
