: I can't seem to figure this one out. Can you please help me.
You are choosing between two long-distance telephone plans. Plan A has a monthly fee of $15 with a charge of $.08 per minute for all long-distance calls. Plan B has a monthly fee of $3 with a charge of $.12 per minute for all long distance calls.
a. For how many minutes of long-distance calls will the costs for the two plans be the same? What will be the cost for each plan?
b. If you make approximately 15 long-distance calls per month, each averaging 30 minutes, which plan should you select? Explain your answer.

Plan A cost: A(x)= 15+0.08x
Plan B cost: B(x)= 3 + 0.12x
-------------------
EQUATION:
If Plan A costs the same as Plan B:
15+0.08x = 3 + 0.12x
12 = 0.04x
x = 300 minutes (The plans will cost the same when each covers 300 minutes)
-------------------------------
b. If you make approximately 15 long-distance calls per month, each averaging 30 minutes, which plan should you select? Explain your answer.
15*30 = 450 minutes
Cost for Plan A: A(450)= 15+0.08*450 =$51
Cost for Plan B: B(450)= 3+0.12*450 =$57
You can make the choice and explain your reasons.
