Let x=one number
And y= the other number
Then
x+y=80-----------------eq1
x-y=18-------------------eq2
Add eq1 and eq2
2x=98 divide both sides by 2
x=49----------------one number
substitute x=49 into eq1
49+y=80 subtract 49 from both sides
y=80-49
y=31-----------------the other number
ck 49+31=80
80=80
and
49-31=18
18=18
