Start at the end and work backwards.
Danny has 4 stickers.

If he takes back the extra 3, he has 7 (which is half) and his friend has seven.
If he takes back 7, he has 14.

If he takes back the 4, he has 18.
This is two thirds of what he had before he gave 1/3 to sister,
so the 1/3 he gave sister was 9.
If he takes back 9, he has 27.
