Resolve in the set of integers 2x²-x-3 ≤ 0
Answer by rothauserc(4718) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Resolve in the set of integers 2x²-x-3 ≤ 0
factor the polynomial
(2x-3)(x+1) ≤ 0
there are two cases where the parabola crosses the x axis
(2x-3) = 0
x = 3/2
****************************
(x+1) = 0
x = -1
****************************
we are looking for where the parabola is at or below the x axis
here is its graph
we only consider integers so 3/2 becomes 1 and our solution is
****************************
-1 ≤ x ≤ 1
