If I went to an Amusement park and adult admission tickets sold for $51.99 and Junior admission tickets sold for $26.99. Tickets sold 360, THE PARK collected $15,591.40. How many admission of each type was sold
-----------
Quantity Eq:: a + j = 360 tickets
Value Eq:: 5199a + 2699j = 1559140 cents
---------------------
5199a + 5199j = 5199*360
5199a + 2699j = 1559140
-------------------------------
Subtract and solve for "j"::
2500j = 312500
# of junior tickets = 125

Let number of adult tickets sold, be A
Since 360 tickets were sold, number of junior tickets sold = 360 - A
We then get the following RECEIPTS equation:
51.99A + 26.99(360 - A) = 15,591.4
51.99A + 9,716.4 - 26.99A = 15,591.4
51.99A - 26.99A = 15,591.4 - 9,716.4
25A = 5,875
A, or number of adult tickets sold = , or
Number of junior tickets sold: 360 - 235, or
