You do whats in the () first so
-9+(2-x)+8×
-9+(2x)+8x
-9+2x+8x
Do we do the xs first?
2x+8x=10x
-9+10x= 1x
Im so confused
Thank you in advance
Answer by MathLover1(20849) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
remember:
The Order of Operations: PEMDAS
-Do things in Parentheses First.
-Exponents (Powers, Roots) before Multiply, Divide, Add or Subtract.
-Multiply or Divide before you Add or Subtract.
-Otherwise just go left to right.
....you need first to eliminate parentheses; if we have plus sign in front of parentheses, just disregard them, nothing will change
....now combine like terms
....if you need to subtract greater number from smaller number, just subtract smaller from greater number and put minus sign in front of difference:
so, is same as
...you can swap the places
