I am 12 years old. I am a girl. I am advanced in math, and am willing to help solve as many problems as I can! :)
Hi, guys! I know that some people have some trouble with equations, so I'm here to help! This lesson just teaches how to solve SIMPLE equations, so if you're coming here wanting to learn how to do equations with variables on both sides or something like that, PLEASE BE PATIENT. I'll try and make lessons like those in the future. :) I do NOT have an email, so if you have a question, comment, or ANYTHING like that, please comment me on my page! I'll be glad to answer your questions, and if you have a lesson topic that you think that I should write about, feel free to ask if I'll make a lesson on it! I'll try to put one up as soon as possible!
Alright...now onto the lesson!
Equations are basically when you try and figure out the value of the variable. A variable is a letter that, in this case, has replaced a number in a mathematical sentence. In an equation, you have to work backwards to figure out what this variable's value is.
I'm not as good at explaining, so here, I'll try and show you with an example!
x+3=10
Now, to solve this equation, we'll have to WORK BACKWARDS. That means, when I'm solving for X (the variable) I have to get it isolated on one side, that way, the other side will end up being X;s value.
So, in this case, we would subtract 3 on both sides, like so...
x+3-3=10-3
Now we simplify!
x=7
That would be how to solve a simple equation! And if it's a subtraction, you would do the same thing, except add!
x-5=19
x-5+5=19+5
x=24
That's basically how you would solve an equation! Thank you for listening- if you have ANY QUESTIONS AT ALL, please put a comment on my page! I'll be happy to answer! (I'm sorry if this didn't make a piece of sense to you, I'm not so good at explaining...)
Hopefully soon, I will be able to get an email, and you will eventually be able to direct your questions there! Thanks, guys!
ALSO: I'm thinking that maybe I'll try and make a quiz on equations. I'm new here, so I haven't done much, but I plan to do tons more!
Bye, guys! I hope I helped!
