Question 39798: Can someone help me with this problem?
The distance from Philadelphia to Sea Isle City is 100 mi. A car was driven this distance using tires with a radius of 14 in. How many revolutions of each tire occurred on the trip?
Thanks,
Sher

Answer by fractalier(6550)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Each revolution of the tire is its circumference.
C = 2(pi)r
C = 2(pi)(14)
C = 28(pi) inches.
Now 100 miles is
100 mi x 5280 ft/mi x 12 in/ft = 6336000 in
Divide that by 28(pi) and you'll have it...
about 79029 revolutions
