One task took 7 minutes (min), a second task took 12 minutes, and a third task took 21 min. How long did the three tasks take, as a fraction of an hour?

add the tasks:
To find the fraction of an hour:
So the answer is two thirds of an hour.

Add the minutes together to find the total time: 7 +12+21= 40 minutes. Now convert this to hours, by dividing by 60 minutes in 1 hour. The result is hour.
