You can put this solution on YOUR website!
How do you write the following in the expanded form?:

                684

1. String out the digits like this with + signs between

      6 + 8 + 4

2. Place a " ×10 " beside each digit except the last one

      6×10 + 8×10 + 4

3. Going from RIGHT to LEFT, place exponents above and to
the right of each 10, starting with 1, then 2, then 3,
etc., as necessary until every 10 has an exponent.
[Be sure to go from RIGHT to LEFT, not left to right!]

      6×102 + 8×101 + 4

That's it. Now let's expand a 6-digit number, say, 7490322

============================================================

1. String out the digits like this with + signs between

      7 + 4 + 9 + 0 + 3 + 2 + 2

2. Place a " ×10 " beside each digit except the last one

      7×10 + 4×10 + 9×10 + 0×10 + 3×10 + 2×10 + 2

3. Going from right to left, place exponents above and to
the right of each 10, starting with 1, then 2, then 3,
etc., as necessary until every 10 has an exponent.
[Be sure to go from RIGHT to LEFT, not left to right!]

      7×106 + 4×105 + 9×104 + 0×103 + 3×102 + 2×101 + 2
