We know that 1,000 is divisible by 10 since the last digit is 0. So just add 10 to this number to get 1,010. So 1,010 is the smallest number divisible by 10 that happens to be greater than 1,000 (since the last digit is also 0).


Note: this is like saying that 4 is divisible by 2 and 4+2=6 is also divisible by 2.
