Question 1089774: I understand that reciprocal times the original fraction is equal to 1
But i do not understand how that relates to a fraction divided by a fraction.
Example:
5/3 / 1/2
is the same as
5/3 * 2/1
I have been thinking about this for days and I have immense trouble comprehending it. I just don't understand the logic.
Answer by Alan3354(69443) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Example:
5/3 / 1/2
is the same as
5/3 * 2/1
===============
(5/3)/(1/2)
Multiply NUM and DEN by 2
--> (5/3)*2/1
= 10/3
-----------
(a/b)/(c/d)
Multiply NUM and DEN by d
--> (a/b)*d/c = (a/b)*(d/c)
